Quarterly Community Update: September 2020

FB_Post#4

The quarterly Community Update is our chance to give you a heads up about AIP community news, podcasts, video series, and local in-person meet-up groups. If you have started a local support group on Facebook (no pages please), send the link to [email protected] and we will promote it!

Autoimmune Wellness Anti-Racism Business Plan

We believe it is our collective responsibility to engage in the work necessary to eradicate racism and dismantle the barriers that prevent many BIPOC from meeting basic life needs. We acknowledge that these are prerequisites to health and wellness, and to the lifestyles and communities we seek to foster within our businesses. Despite defining our work this way personally, dismantling these barriers had not been a central part of our long-term business plans until now. Read about the ways in which we are committed to taking sustained action within our space of influence.

Equity at Autoimmune Wellness

As stated in our anti-racism business plan, we have created and published a statement of equity which is now displayed prominently on our homepage. Commitment to diversity and collaboration is one of the ways we seek to remedy the forms of exclusion and racism that plague our healthcare systems and wellness communities. New Medical Study Results: Improved Quality of Life for IBD with AIP

If it seems like every time you turn around we’ve got new medical study results to share, it’s because we do! These particular results come from a sub-study conducted under the original AIP medical study on the Autoimmune Protocol and inflammatory bowel disease, published in 2017. These new results show that not only did AIP contribute to improved health for participants in this study, but also improved quality of life. Read the full results here.

A Discussion on Race, Genetics and Genetic Expression

In this highly informative article, our Medical Advisor Dr. Rob Abbott explores the intersection between race and genetics, and explains how misinformation in this space as impacted our biases for the worse. Our hope is that understanding concepts like this can play a role in the “unlearning” that many of us have dedicated ourselves in recent months. Read Rob’s full article here.

Want to Be Featured on Our Blog?

Right now, we’re looking for contributors to our Kitchen Tour series where you give us a glimpse of your AIP kitchen and tell us how you’ve adapted your home and lifestyle to AIP. Participating is really fun and a great way to inspire and encourage new AIPers. We’d love to feature you! Click here to fill out our interest form.

AIP Meetup Groups

Find a local networking group centered around the Autoimmune Protocol! Be advised that these are not disease-specific support groups, but are to facilitate in-person networking and support for those on or considering the Autoimmune Protocol. Each group has their own moderation and rules for membership, but generally they are private and supportive of those on their healing journeys. Know that this listing does not imply endorsement by Autoimmune Paleo, groups are not run by us, and your request to join and any information you may encounter in these groups is at your own risk.

If possible, please request membership in a group local to where you live — after all, the whole idea is to get together with others in your community who are facing similar challenges! Health coaches, practitioners, online marketers, and others trying to sell their products, know that many of these groups are well moderated and solicitation will not be tolerated. If there isn’t a group near you, consider starting your own and letting us know about it on our contact page!
